Today is the start of the Queen鈥檚 lying-in-state at the oldest part of the Palace of Westminster. It was built in 1097 under William II, the son of William the Conqueror.

Wednesday, 14 September

The Queen鈥檚 coffin will leave Buckingham Palace in a procession led by King Charles III, Prince William, Prince Harry and other senior royals. The procession will be passing along Queen鈥檚 Gardens, The Mall, Horse Guards and Horse Guards Arch, Whitehall, Parliament Street, Parliament Square and Palace Yard.
Guns will be fired at Hyde Park throughout the procession and the Big Ben will toll.

The coffin is expected to arrive at Westminster Hall where a short service will be held.
17:00 听
From 17:00, members of the public will be allowed to pay their respects to the Queen.
Thursday, 15 September 鈥 Saturday, 17 September
The Queen鈥檚 coffin will lie in state at Westminster Hall which will be open for 24 hours a day.

Sunday, 18 September
The fourth day that the Queen鈥檚 coffin will lie in state at Westminster Hall.

This day has been declared as a bank holiday.
